  • 🍿 + 50 films on the programme including 17 previews.

  • Over the last 3 years, the Festa do Cinema Francês has broken audience records; it is expected by + 20,000 spectators. It is the biggest French event in Portugal.

  • The festivities kick off on 3 October 2024 at 20:00 at the Cinéma São Jorge in Lisbon with the screening of the film The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte - in the presence of Franco-Portuguese actor Patrick Mille and producer Dimitri Rassam.

  • For the first time, the Festival has selected 5 films in competition to be chosen by the public.

  • Another new feature is the addition of 2 themed programmes. ‘Rir à grande e à francesa’ showcases French-style comedy, while “Uma Língua, Múltiplos Olhares” explores the creative diversity of Franco-Belgian co-productions. These new features are in addition to the festival essentials: previews, exclusive films, Cinéma à Mesa (featuring films about gastronomy), Cine Jovem (school screenings with films aimed at young audiences) and the much-loved Second Chance, where you can watch films that have already been released in cinemas.

  • The festival will also feature a retrospective of the work of filmmaker Chris Marker (1921-2012).

  • A day entitled ‘From film to series’ will be dedicated to series and their professions. As part of a Franco-Portuguese exchange, audiovisual experts will be meeting at the Palais de Santos to discuss the prospects for serial production in Europe and recent changes in the audiovisual landscape. Two episodes of a series co-produced by Arte will be screened at the São Jorge cinema in Lisbon on 10 October 2024 - as part of a special session inaugurated by the President of Arte, Bruno Patino.

  • 13 October 2024: screening of L'Amour ouf by Gilles Lellouche for the closing night of the festivities in Lisbon.
