The route is marked by superb beaches (each very different from the next), breathtaking views (don't forget your binoculars) and countless red fruit plantations (especially raspberries and strawberries).
šš PRAIA DE NOSSA SENHORA (20 minutes š south of Vila Nova de Milfontes)
šš PRAIA DO ALMOGRAVE
šCABO SARDĆO (20 minutes š from Almograve/ 20 minutes from Zambujeira do Mar)
- lovely lighthouse, wild area with incredible views of the Costa Vicentina.
šZAMBUJEIRA DO MAR
- fishing village, known for Portugal's biggest annual rock festival.
- Zambujeira beach š is magnificent, especially out of season and/or at sunset.
š½ O Sacas : A very good place to eat fresh fish (the little fishing port is just below) and regional dishes. A short walk away is the small promontory of Nossa Senhora do Mar, with its lovely view over the fishing port.
šPRAIA DA AMĆLIA š
- named after the famous Fado singer AmƔlia Rodrigues, who had her house built here in the mid-1960s, perched on the cliff. You can stay in this house (Herdade AmƔlia Rodrigues).
- A pretty beach accessible via a path dotted with bamboo tunnels along a river.
šAZENHA DO MAR (20 minutes š from Zambujeira do Mar)
šODECEIXE
- starting point for the Costa Vicentina,
- a charming little village
- the beach stretches along 2 sides of a river, offering sea and freshwater bathing.
š½ Taberna do GabĆ£o : Algarve and Alentejo cuisine, home cooking, rustic decor.
š½ Chaparro : rustic yellow tavern with covered terrace, typical regional menu (fish and meat), speciality octopus salad, black Alzejur pig, barnacles.
